BDSwiss holds a UAE Securities & Commodities Authority (SCA) Category 5 licence for financial consultations and introduction, but the actual trading account sits with its offshore entities, not with a UAE-regulated broker. Executing trades happens under BDSwiss's Seychelles FSA (SD047) or Mauritius FSC arms, which means the licence you see on the homepage and the licence behind your trades are two different things.

The Broker in Plain Terms

BDSwiss is a brand that has been around since 2012, originally built in Cyprus and Zurich. It no longer holds CySEC or FCA licences after exiting the EU and UK markets, and today it operates as an offshore-focused broker via Mauritius and Seychelles, with an SCA licence used for its MENA expansion. For a UAE reader, that history matters less than the practical question: which legal entity will hold your money, and under whose rules.

A contract for difference (CFD) is a product where you and the broker settle the difference in price, rather than owning the underlying asset. That is what BDSwiss offers, across 250+ instruments.

The Category 5 label is the part worth understanding. It is a real licence, and it is a local positive. But it authorises consulting and introducing clients, not running the trading book. Your order flow goes offshore.

Leverage: The Claim Versus the Rule

The marketing line is leverage up to 1:2000. That figure exists, on the offshore entity, with a default closer to 1:400 unless you change it. What the marketing does not put in the headline is what the local rulebook says.

Leverage is borrowed exposure. At 1:100, a $1,000 deposit controls $100,000 of currency. Gain and loss are calculated on the larger number, not your deposit, which is why leverage is the fastest way to lose money as a beginner.

RegulatorTypical retail cap
SCA/CMA (mainland)~1:50 majors, 1:20 minors, 1:10 commodities
DFSA (DIFC)~1:30, aligned with EU standards
Offshore marketing to UAE1:500 to 1:1000+, and higher

The gap is not accidental. Caps exist because high leverage is the most common way new traders blow up an account. None of the UAE caps apply to the offshore entity you would be trading with, so the ceiling is a setting you choose, not a rule that protects you.

RISK ALERT
At 1:2000, a 0.05% move against your position wipes out your margin. That is a five-dollar move on a ten-thousand-dollar position. Set leverage deliberately, not by default.

Real Costs, Compared

The cost story is where BDSwiss is competitive, and it is worth checking against your own trading style rather than a headline number. A pip is the smallest standard price move in a currency pair, roughly 0.0001 on EUR/JPY. A spread is the gap between the buy and sell price, and it is how the broker gets paid on commission-free accounts.

AccountMin depositEUR/JPY cost
Cent~$10Spread-based
Classic~$10~1.3 pips, no commission
VIP$250From ~1.0-1.1 pips
Raw/Zero$500From 0.0 pips + ~$5/lot round-turn

Some index and share CFDs carry their own commission on top. If you trade a few times a month, the Classic account spread is the only number that matters. If you trade daily, the Raw account usually wins once you clear $500, because the commission is smaller than the spread you save.

The Cent account at around $10 minimum is the entry point we would point a complete beginner to. It lets you place a very small position while you learn how orders, stops, and margin actually behave.

Offshore Structure and What It Means

The offshore structure is legal, disclosed, and common in this market. It is also the exact structure that removes the safety net. There is no UAE investor-compensation scheme covering your trading account with the Seychelles or Mauritius entity. If the broker fails, there is no local fund that steps in. That is not a prediction of failure, it is a description of what the licence does and does not cover.

When we weigh a broker like this against the alternatives, the criteria that separate a good international broker from a weak one are consistent:

  • A top-tier regulator behind the trading entity itself, not just the marketing arm, such as FCA, CySEC or ASIC.
  • Segregated client funds, held at a separate bank from the company's own money.
  • Published, itemised fees: spreads, commissions, swap charges, inactivity fees, conversion costs.
  • A track record long enough to include a stressed market, plus a clear withdrawal policy with stated timelines.
  • Live, reachable support that answers a funding question in writing.

If a broker you are comparing against meets more of those points than BDSwiss does, that is a legitimate reason to choose it. If BDSwiss meets more of them for your specific use case, that is equally legitimate. The point is to run the checklist, not to accept either marketing page as the answer.

FYI
BDSwiss does not appear on any UAE regulator warning list as of our review, and the SCA licence is genuine. The offshore trading entity is the item to weigh, not a red flag on its own.

Withdrawals and Funding

Money in and out is the question we get asked most, and it is the one where the paperwork, not the advertising, decides.

StepTypical timing
Card depositInstant
E-wallet deposit (Skrill/Neteller)Instant
Bank transfer deposit1-2 business days
Withdrawal, once KYC is clearDepends on method, often 1-5 days

The minimum deposit is around $10 on Cent and Classic, and we found no verified broker deposit fee. Base currency is USD or EUR, with no verified AED account, so a UAE client converting from dirhams pays a conversion cost somewhere in the chain. The AED is pegged to the USD at roughly 3.6725, which softens that cost but does not remove it.

UAE-specific local payment rails were not verified at our review. The broker lists cards, bank wires and e-wallets, and standard UAE rails such as Emirates NBD, ADCB or a local Visa card usually work, but confirm your exact method before funding.

KYC stands for know your customer, the identity check every regulated broker runs. For a UAE resident this means an Emirates ID plus proof of address, such as a utility bill, bank statement or tenancy contract. Non-residents use a passport instead. Get this in before you deposit, not after you want your money back. It is the single most common cause of a slow first withdrawal.

TIP
Fund with the same method you plan to withdraw to. Brokers routinely require this under anti-money-laundering rules, and mixing methods can stall a payout by days.

Islamic Accounts and Platform Choice

Swap-free accounts matter in this market, and BDSwiss covers it partially. A swap is the overnight interest charged or paid on a position held past the daily cutoff, and a swap-free account removes it. The Islamic option is available on Classic and VIP, but not on the Raw account, which is worth knowing before you pick Raw for the tighter spread.

PlatformsMT4, MT5, WebTrader, mobile apps
Base currencyUSD, EUR

MT4 and MT5 are the industry-standard trading terminals, and both are supported alongside BDSwiss's own WebTrader and mobile apps. For a beginner, the proprietary app is usually easier to learn, and MT5 is where you graduate once you want more charting tools and order types.

What We Could Not Verify

No UAE-specific promotion was verified at the time of writing. More relevant: no AED-denominated account was confirmed, and the local funding rails were not tested end to end. We also could not confirm a named BDSwiss entry on any UAE regulator warning list, and equally could not confirm the absence of complaints we have not seen. Where a broker has a regulatory history worth checking, the honest position is to check it yourself at the source.

If you want to verify the licence directly, the DFSA public register is at dfsa.ae/public-register/firms, and the SCA/CMA publishes its licensed-companies open data at uaecma.gov.ae or sca.gov.ae. The regulator's violations and warnings page sits at sca.gov.ae under open data. Any firm offering forex or CFDs to UAE residents should hold a local licence from the SCA/CMA, DFSA or FSRA, and the registration number must match the legal entity printed on your client agreement.

CAUTION
Regulators in the UAE warn about firms impersonating licensed brokers through cold calls, WhatsApp messages and social-media ads promising guaranteed returns. Verify the entity name on the register before you send money, and never wire funds to a personal account.

Where the Evidence Lands

Sensible for: a UAE trader who wants MT4/MT5 access, 250+ CFDs including crypto, a low entry at around $10, an Islamic option on Classic or VIP, and a spread structure that is genuinely competitive on the Raw tier. If you understand that your account sits offshore, that no UAE compensation scheme covers it, and you size positions accordingly, BDSwiss does what it advertises.

A stretch for: someone who wants the trading entity itself supervised by a top-tier regulator, or who needs an AED base currency to avoid conversion costs, or who plans to hold larger balances and would rather see segregated client funds under an FCA, CySEC or ASIC framework. None of that is a reason to leave the international broker category. It is a reason to compare two or three brokers against the checklist above and pick the one whose regulation, fees and withdrawal terms you can actually read and verify.

Questions

Is BDSwiss legal for UAE residents to use?

Yes. BDSwiss holds a UAE Securities & Commodities Authority (SCA) Category 5 licence for financial consultations and introduction, which is a genuine local authorisation. The trading itself runs through its Seychelles FSA (SD047) or Mauritius FSC entities, so the licence you see locally and the entity holding your trades are different.

Which regulator actually covers my trading account?

The Seychelles Financial Services Authority or the Mauritius Financial Services Commission, depending on which entity onboards you. UAE retail leverage caps do not apply there, and there is no UAE investor-compensation scheme behind that account, so the protection you get is the broker's own segregation and solvency rather than a statutory fund.

Does BDSwiss have an Islamic or swap-free account?

Yes, on the Classic and VIP accounts. The Raw/Zero account does not offer the swap-free option, which matters if you plan to hold positions overnight and picked Raw for the tighter spread. Swap-free means no overnight interest charge on positions kept past the daily cutoff.

How do I check a broker's licence before I deposit?

Use the public registers rather than the broker's own page. The DFSA register is at dfsa.ae/public-register/firms, and the SCA/CMA publishes licensed-company open data at uaecma.gov.ae or sca.gov.ae, including a violations and warnings page. Make sure the registration number matches the legal entity name on your client agreement, not just the brand on the homepage.

What should a first-time UAE trader check before opening any account?

Confirm the entity on your client agreement, read the withdrawal policy and timeline, check the spread and commission for the account tier you actually want, and complete KYC with your Emirates ID and proof of address before funding. Then compare at least two other brokers on regulation, segregated funds and published fees before you commit.
